Summer Student Internships Available!

SRSLY Stockbridge wants to provide an opportunity for two Stockbridge High School students to gain leadership skills and participate with a community coalition focused on creating an environment where youth make positive and substance free decisions. The internship program will increase youth participation in the decision making process and provide leadership opportunities within the coalition.
Internship Overview:
  • Commitment of 60 hours over 10 weeks from June to August, flexible scheduling.
  • Start date: week of June 24th.
  • $500 stipend to be paid upon completion of internship.
  • Student must be 16 years old or older.
  • A work permit is required for students under the age of 18.
  • If hired, the intern must sign the SRSLY membership pledge, which includes a commitment to make healthy decisions regarding drugs and alcohol.
  • Applicants will be interviewed.
  • Applications are due by Friday, May 24, 2019.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Help plan and assist with SRSLY events and activities
  • Develop media campaign
  • Create promotional and recruitment materials
  • Attend Summer Youth Leadership Conference: CADCA Mid-Year Training Institute – Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center, Dallas, Texas, Sunday, July 14 – Thursday, July 18, 2019.
    • CADCA’s Key Essentials Course: Equips participants with the foundational tools needed to take the first steps in solving their communities’ problems surrounding drugs, vaping, underage drinking, prescription drugs, and other substance misuse related issues using the Strategic Prevention Framework.     • Interns will provide a brief presentation about the conference to SRSLY members and at a Stockbridge Area Wellness Coalition meeting.
    • SRSLY will provide funding for transportation, lodging, registration, and meals.
  • Participate in the SRSLY Stockbridge Coalition:
    • Commitment of 10 volunteer hours between September 2019 and June 2020, applicable toward community service credit.
    • Present internship findings.
    • Continue to bring ideas to Youth Steering Committee (YSC) and function as member of group.
    • Meet with SRSLY leadership to discuss strategies to prevent and reduce substance use among Stockbridge youth through the year.
