How Stickers Prevent Underage Drinking

This homecoming weekend, SRSLY wants to remind adults that it’s illegal to buy and provide alcohol to minors under the age of 21. Thanks to local businesses and youth leaders, we were able to spread that message far and wide this week!

On September 19, SRSLY youth leaders participated in Project Sticker Shock – a community awareness campaign designed to educate adults and reduce underage drinking.

The youth volunteered their afternoon to put dozens of stickers on cases of beer and wine coolers that are for sale in local stores and gas stations. The stickers state: “It is illegal for any person 21 or older to purchase/provide alcohol to minors. Fines are up to $2,500 or 1 year in jail.”

Students also put up posters to help increase awareness and demonstrate each business’s commitment to keeping alcohol out of the hands of minors.

Thank you to the following businesses for helping keep Stockbridge youth safe during homecoming:

  • Unadilla Store
  • BP gas station/Express Stop
  • Shell gas station
